The Shure SM57 is one of the world's most used instrument microphones. And although it has not been as obvious as the SM58 when the singer chooses a microphone, it has been The Presidents Choice, when statements are to be made from the White House, since 1965. The SM57 and the SM58 are the same microphone, the what separates them is the grill, i.e. the top, where the SM57's grill is adapted for miking drums, amplifiers and acoustic instruments, but the fact is that it works just as well as a vocal microphone.
