The PRS SE Swamp Ash Special has a body in Swamp Ash (Ash, where most of the tree grows under water) and where the neck and fingerboard are made of maple. Together, this is a combination that provides a versatile tone and a cool exterior. Between the two 85/15 “S” humbucker pickups is a PRS designed AS-01 Single Coil “S” pickup. The AS-01 "S" contains both alnico and steel which results in a single coil microphone that provides a strong and powerful tone.
The microphones are controlled via a volume control, a tone control with push/pull function for the possibility of splitting the pickups and a 3-way switch.
The wide range of choices gives a wide palette of sounds to play with, regardless of what style you play or want to learn. A tight but still clearly longer midrange, clear but soft upper midrange and treble but with "Twang"... that's how the SE Swamp Ash Special can be summed up.
