The Q8 comes with a specially designed detachable X/Y microphone. It is also compatible with many of ZOOM's other microphone capsules. If you have an H5 or H6, you can use these for the Q8 as well, such as SGH-6 shotgun microphone or MSH-6 mid-side stereo microphone. (*The EXH-6 TRS/XLR capsule is not compatible with the Q8)
The Q8 has a large LCD touchscreen that is easy to use and rich in advanced functions. Two XLR/TRS combo inputs allow you to plug in external microphones and audio sources. The built-in speaker and headphone output make it easy to listen directly from the device. There is even an HDMI output.
The high-quality 160° wide-angle lens and flexible mounting options give you the ability to capture video with full realism and sharp definition wherever you are. The Q8 has mounts for both tripod stands and action camera mounts.
The Q8 goes beyond standard HD. Here you get 3M HD (2304 x 1296 pixels @ 30fps/24mbps) and also two types of HD (24mbps and 16mbps for increased storage capacity) with up to 60 fps at 720p to be able to capture fast action scenes as well.
The XY microphone is perfect if you don't want to compromise on sound quality. It is retractable so that it does not take up any space.
With the Q8, you get the same fantastic sound found in all ZOOM products with a resolution of up to 24-bit/96kHz. A low cut filter and accompanying wind shield allow you to remove all low frequency hum. There are three Autogain settings and built-in compressor and limiter. The Q8 can also be used alone as a standalone stereo or four-channel audio recorder.
