The majority of electric guitars use passive pickups with a high impedance output. When using a cable there is a loss of tone, usually high frequencies, after about 6m (about 18ft) and this problem gets worse the longer the cable. A buffer amplifies the signal over long cables to avoid loss of tone and keep it clean and clear - even when your pedal is off.
Ultra Buffer improves sound quality in bypass mode, so you can still maintain sound quality even when you use a long cable to connect to the tuner, or when you insert the tuner into a complex effect board. On the Pitchblack X you can switch between true bypass and Ultra Buffer, according to your taste and performance environment.
