The NUX DM-8 is the latest digital drum kit from Nux and the flagship of their range. It is engineered and designed with new and innovative technologies that give you the authentic feeling of playing an acoustic drum kit.
The DM-8 has a sturdy tripod system that is not only durable, but also easy to adjust and looks great on stage! Equipped with mesh skin, an old fashioned hi-hat, an independent snare with three-point trigger, a bass drum with mesh skin and space for a double pedal and a really good and versatile sound module.
Realism with, among other things, mesh skin
One of the fundamental reasons for the realistic feeling of playing an acoustic drum set that the DM-8 gives you is definitely the mesh skins on all the drums. They very nicely imitate a real drum head like on an acoustic set. On the DM-8, Nux has gone all the way by also fitting mesh to the bass drum, which is otherwise usually just a rubber pad on most digital sets. By simultaneously making the bass drum plate larger than usual, you also have the option of mounting a double pedal on the DM-8.
An expressive hi-hat
The hi-hat is mounted on its own movable hi-hat stand, which gives a more realistic feel compared to a fixed rubber plate. The hi-hat is mounted on a motion sensor unit and can be easily adjusted for your playing style, including open/closed and semi-open.
12" snare with three-point trigger
The snare drum in the DM-8 set gives you the same possibilities as with an acoustic snare. It is designed with an edge and stripe design and a triple zone, which enables the playing of convincing rim shots and cross stitches, meeting the needs of most playing situations from rock/funk/to Latin, where e.g. The cross stitches are great for ballads or a hot bossa nova. The snare drum is mounted on the included and very stable stand, which means that the snare drum is not attached to the rest of the drum set, as you otherwise know from digital drum sets. The newly designed 10-inch bass drum with mesh skin can completely replace a regular bass drum, and the mesh skin provides the same response you are used to from acoustic sets.
The newly designed bass drum pedal has a double chain and a thicker base plate. The double chain provides more precision while the thick bottom plate prevents the entire pedal from moving unwantedly. And if the included high-quality pedal isn't enough for you and your playing style, the drum is big and stable enough to mount a double pedal on it.
DM-8 sound module
The new DM-8 sound module is packed with innovative and very useful features, and it contains 30 high-quality kits to suit different styles. So no matter what genre of music you are mainly into, there is a sound that fits.
The intuitive and simple user interface gives you every imaginable opportunity to customize and optimize your personal kits, and you can assign different sounds to both the edge and skin of each drum pad. USB AUDIO I/O
The DM-8 module also functions as an audio interface with the ability to send stereo audio and MIDI data to a Mac or Windows computer via USB. This allows you to record audio and MIDI drum tracks into any DAW or trigger sounds from software-based drum instruments both in the studio and live. You can record up to 14 separate audio tracks in your favorite DAW.
Effects
If you want to customize your drum sounds even more, the DM-8 module also includes a selection of high-quality effects that can also be used individually on each pad. You just need to navigate to the EFFECT menu and select your favorite effect. For example, add EQ, compression, overdrive or reverb to each individual pad, or you can add a Master Compression and/or EQ to your overall mix.
Lovely practice features
The DM-8 has a large selection of built-in songs that you can jam with, including a diverse range of musical styles so there's something for every drummer.
Practice makes perfect! Record your drumming on a USB stick or upload your favorite backing track, play with it and save it as a WAV file - for example, you can analyze your playing by listening to the whole mix afterwards.
Finally, there is an AUX IN port so you can connect your mobile, tablet or computer and play backing tracks from them, which you can also practice to.
