Tama Star: Star Maple has bodies with a 2mm solid maple core surrounded by a cross laminate on the outside and inside. The 5mm thin frame has a 5mm thick Sound Focus ring which gives stability to the resonant frame.
The inside of the frame is oiled and the chamfering of the drumsticks has a slightly larger counter-chamfer of 3.5mm so that the drum head has good contact with the frame and gets a clean sound without losing brilliance. The lug design has minimal contact with the frame and a lovely classic look. The frame can be had, at no additional cost, with a handmade inlay on the outside that speaks of the Star drums' uncompromising stance.
For those who so wish, an inner insert on the focus rings is also offered, at an additional cost.
- Frames - 14 x 6.5, frame 5mm with a core of a 2mm solid layer of maple surrounded by 2 thin cross-laminates of maple and 5mm Sound Focus Ring, 3 air holes on the snare drum.
- Bearing edge - The frame has a 3.5mm counter-chamfer for optimal contact between skin and frame.
- Snare bed - Wider snare bed enhances the vintage sound character.
- MLS50A/MLS50B, Linear-Drive Tensioner mechanism with tensioner adjustment, ratchet type with tight positions, on both sides.
- Super Sensitive Hi-Carbon Sejarmatta - Gives a good bottom and nice crisp top register.
- Die-Cast Hoops - Focused sound and easy to tune. 8 hole tuning forks on the snare drums.
- Minimal Shell Contact - Tuning housing and the stylish design of the tuning forks have minimal contact with the body.
- Hold TightTM Washers - Special washers with nylon bushing so that the tuning screws do not screw up. Options:
