Tailored for Steve Lukather of Toto, the SLV mics are similar to our SAV mics, but for Steve we've added our special touch. The coil windings were increased for a fuller tone and EMG hid the pole pin for a more uniform aesthetic on the instrument.
Steve always played with EMG in the past with a specially overwound SA mic, so EMG used the original preamp from the SA mic with flat Alnico 5 pole pins hidden under the hood. The SA amplifier gives the SAV mic its classic EMG sound, while the flat poles place the mic closer to the strings for more output and a more powerful attack.
