Made in Meinl's Turkish factory, quality controlled and finished in Meinl's factory in Germany.
Byzance is manufactured in Meinl's Turkish factory according to traditional craftsmanship methods that are characterized by great skill and professional pride. Each cymbal is cast from B20 alloy which is 80% copper and 20% tin. The cast blank is heated, rolled and cooled according to a carefully tested schedule until the correct thickness is achieved. Next, the bell of the cymbal is shaped before the hand hammering takes place to create the shape of the cymbal. The series that have a turned surface are then hand-turned before being sent to Germany.
Each step in the said process has decisive importance for the sound character and properties of the cymbal, which means that e.g. 16" Thin crash is manufactured according to a different pattern than ditto Heavy crash. The raw cymbals are sent to Meinl's German factory for quality control, sorting and various finishing touches such as lazer logo, brilliant finish, sandblasting. The bike is closed and a match between Turkish craftsmanship and German quality control and finishing is the key to the success of Byzance's warm sound and high even standard.Byzance is available in the following variants, Foundry Reserve, Dual, Traditional, Vintage, Jazz, Extra Dry, Dark and Brilliant all with unique sound characteristics and appearance.
