With a relatively thin (3.5cm) body, the Phantom is exquisitely balanced and surprisingly light. A 25.5" scale provides a slightly sharper attack and more sustain than classic 24.75" guitars. A neck mount that provides total unhindered access to all 22 frets will satisfy the needs of even the most virtuosic guitarist. The goal was to equip the Fantomen with electronics that will enable a varied tonal palette with everything from classic vintage tones to screaming metal.
Hagström has worked with Swedish pickup guru Johan Lundgren - the man behind pickups used by artists such as Meshuggah's Mårten Hagström (no relation!). Lundgren recommended two different humbucker designs: No. 2 in the neck position and No. 5 in stable position. The result covers a vast field of expression; from soft, warm tones to the kind of attack and intense dynamic output that would satisfy the needs of even the most extreme musical styles. Each pickup can be split into single coil mode using push-pull switches in the tone controls for even more audial versatility. This guitar speaks with many different voices.
