The book about Draupner is about the underground clubs and alternative scenes for music, dance, art and literature that were the beating heart of Gothenburg's nightlife in the 1980s.
It focuses on the legendary club Draupner that existed from 1986–1989. An unusually large black club, Draupner was known (or unknown depending on who you asked) for its live concerts with experimental as well as established artists, poetry festivals, art exhibitions, fashion shows and, of course, its pulsating dance floor.
The book gives voice to the everyday heroes who created and carried out these events in basements, back streets and abandoned industrial premises. About how nightlife, art, music and do-it-yourself spirit made Gothenburg Sweden's underground and popular cultural capital.
